Dr. Ronald J. Komich
graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine
at the University of Georgia in 1967. After
serving 4 years in the US Army Veterinary
Corps, he joined a practice in Durham. In
1971, Ron joined Dr. Bill Sumner at GVH and
became owner and director in 1985 upon Bill's
retirement. As past president of the North
Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, Ron
was elected NC Veterinarian of the Year in
1986. He and his wife, Stephanie, have 3 adult
children and 5 grandchildren. Their pets include
2 Golden Retrievers, named Mac and Katy, and
a cat, Tory. Ron enjoys skiing, golf, and
fly-fishing. His areas of professional interest
include soft tissue surgery, medicine and
practice management.
