Dr. Melanie A. Tims
Dr. Melanie A. Tims has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1996. After graduating from the University of California, Davis, she completed a small animal internship at the Animal Specialty Group in San Diego, California. Animals have always been vital in her life. Her first exposure to veterinary medicine was watching Dr. John Enck care for her pony, and she has been grateful to have the mentorship of many outstanding individuals in her career. She enjoys helping patients in dermatology and with behavior, and appreciates the benefits that animals bring to all our lives.
Growing up in a military family meant lots of moves, but Dr. Tims is happy to be putting her roots down in North Carolina where she was born. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Greensboro with her daughter, and painting. Currently she has a very special cat, Pounce.

Dr.Maria Syska
Dr. Maria Syska is excited to join the Greensboro Veterinary Hospital family. Originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania, Dr. Syska obtained her BS in Biology from Washington & Lee University in Virginia and returned to the Philadelphia region to obtain her VMD from The University of Pennsylvania. She then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she completed a yearlong small animal medicine & surgery internship and remained as an associate for the last two years. Happy to be settled in Greensboro, she shares her home with her inquisitive kitten, Goose, her sweet Australian Shepherd, Scout and her very loud but entertaining parrot, Taz.
Professionally her interests are varied, as Dr. Syska enjoys the diversity of general practice. In addition to traditional companion animals, Dr. Syska also has an interest in birds and small mammals. Having always been fascinated by the human-animal bond, she enjoys volunteering with therapeutic horseback riding programs in her free time. Dr. Syska is also proud to be a member of Christian Veterinary Mission and has participated in two missions trips to Nicaragua, with plans to return! In the summer of 2009 she was very honored to be named a Mecklenburg Times Healthcare Hero. Dr. Syska feels privileged to be in this profession and looks forward to caring for your four-legged family members! .
